Arkansas Makes DIAA Playoffs
The University of Arkansas has qualified for the DIAA National Quarterfinals after thrashing Iowa State 62-7, and thus leapfrogging Kansas State and Missouri to the top of the Heart of America Conference.
“This was the best game we’ve played,” said Arkansas Head Coach Warren Fyfe. “Our support running was good, our depth was good, and we played really well from the start, which has been an issue for us.”
Knowing they had to win, the Razorbacks did not let up and with center Rolando Bissot and wing Blake Baty punishing shoddy defense in the backs, and with a solid effort from the forwards, they put Iowa State behind early.
Fyfe was especially pleased with the play of his freshman halfback combination of Alex Rees and Jack Casey. The first-year players “have really come into their own,” said Fyfe.
Here are the HOA standings, with a couple of games left among the lower-ranked teams. The top three have played all of their games.
