Another Tie! Bobcats and Crimson Deadlocked
Quinnipiac held defending NIRA D-I champions Harvard to a 20-20 tie Friday night at Harvard's Mignone Field.
The Crimson opened the game with a try from Lennox London. Quinnipiac answered with Layla Cox capping off a nice series of passes to make it 5-5.
Harvard responded with a maul capped off by captain Carly Lehman.
No conversions yet. Quinnipiac mauled it close to the Harvard line. Lucy Lamborn popped off the back and was over.
Fódhla Ní Bhraonáin converted and that nudged the Bobcats ahead. She added a penalty later on and Quinnipiac had a 15-10 lead.
And that's how the first half ended.
The score remained 15-10 until well into the second half. Finally Maya Hilger found some space out wide to tie it up.
Only a few minutes later Kat Storey responded for Quinnipiac and the Bobcats held that lead until the closing moments.
As time wound down, Harvard had one more shot, and London, who had opened the scoring, raced around to tie it up.
Obviously goalkicking was not to be on the day, as Harvard scored their tries out wide, as did Quinnipiac.
The result is the second straight try for Quinnipiac, and the Bobcats are in good position to challenge for a playoff spot.
