Andrew Guerra Recovering From Injury Sustained in Test Match
USA flanker Andrew Guerra is recovering after breaking his leg in the USA's test match against New Zealand.
Guerra was struck by a New Zealand player's leg as that player was being tackled. When he attempted to step on his leg to stand up, it became evident that he had hurt himself badly. There was maybe two minutes left in the game, won by the All Blacks 104-14, and it was halted for some time as Guerra was tended to and stretchered off the field.
Guerra plays for NOLA gold in Major League Rugby and was an All American for Notre Dame College. He got his start in rugby at Carmel HS in Illinois. While he was in the hospital he was visited by, among others, his family, teammates, and representatives from the DC Old Glory MLR team (the game was held in the DC area). Guerra will be traveling to Cleveland, where he lived while at NDC, and then on to the Chicago area where he grew up to recuperate. He faces a long road back to the game.
His former coach at NDC, Jason Fox, said, "Andrew is going to be back. That's just who he is. It will take a lot of work but he has never backed down from work."
If we know anything about Andrew Guerra we know he is a warrior and will get through this! All of the south side of Chicago and the family are rooting for you
