All-Time American List: Bill LeClerc
All-Time American List: Bill LeClerc
LeClerc carries the rock against Hong Kong in his test debut in 1996.
With a face carved out of stone and a strangely winning personality Bill LeClerc was more than the sum of his parts. Before he was coach of West Point’s women’s team, before he was scrum coach for the Eagles, Bill LeClerc was a prop for the United States.
Hard-nosed, powerful, and mobile at prop forward, LeClerc played for the Eagles during one of their strongest periods in 1996 and 1997.
Born in Whangarei, New Zealand, LeClerc was a classic rugby vagabond, playing in New Zealand, South Africa, France, and Canada before ending up in that Mecca of rugby vagabonds, Aspen, Colo. Everywhere he performed, and everywhere he was gritty, determined, and uncompromising.
