AIC Rugby Follows AD Lead, No Rugby This Fall
American International College men's and women's rugby have announced that they will follow the lead of the university and the related sports conferences in not competing this fall.
The Northeast-10 Conference, which is where AIC plays most of its sports, announced that in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, all competition will be suspended through December 31.
AIC Rugby does not play in the Northeast-10. The men play in the Liberty Conference, and the women play in the NCAA league. However, AIC Rugby tweeted a response that said they would follow suit.
Even though Men’s and Women’s Rugby does not compete in the NE10 Conference, we support our Institution’s decision to take health and safety as a top priority. We will be focusing our operations moving forward with Spring 7s. #aicrugby #onehiveonefamily #aicommitted pic.twitter.com/ITZ6xgi6Gg

Watch for other rugby programs that don't play in their university's conference play to potentially follow suit. Already the Ivy League has halted fall sports, which has a direct impact on men's rugby as they play as the Ivy League, but also has an impact on the NCAA league, as Harvard, Dartmouth, and Brown play in that competition.
