ACR D1AA, D2, D3 Championships Set for This Weekend
The American Collegiate Rugby Men's DIAA, D2, and D3 Spring finals are set for this weekend in Texas.
The D2 and D3 semifinals and finals will be held at the Grand Prairie Mavericks Rugby Ground in Grand Prairie, Texas.
The University of Dallas will take on NorCo College in the D2 final. NorCo went 7-0 in their Gold Coast Conference action, paced by a potent attack that saw wing Dennis Kersee leads the team with eight tries, wing/scrumhalf Julien Rocha added eight, and the center pairing of center Jesse Hamilton and Ryan Hudson add 14 between them. With Cyele Banks and Austin Sio setting the tone up front, NorCo were rarely tested to a significant extent.
Dallas, meanwhile, won the Lonestar Men's Tier 2 North with an 8-0 record, holding opposition to a shockingly low eight points. With Isaac Martin and Jack Dabvis leading the try-scoring and Jacob Warila leading the entire conference, any division, in penalty goals, they keep the scoreboard ticking over.
Dallas was the only lower-division team in the Lonestar to get to the semifinals. They finished 4th, but still showed thet are a formidable side. They lost 2612 to UTSA and 33-19 to Sam Houston State, both D1 teams.
In D3 it's Rocky Mountain top two University of Denver and New Mexico Tech along with Lonestar top two Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Prairie View A&M.
Meanwhile, in Arlington, Texas at Choctaw Stadium the MLR match between Dallas and San Diego will have an overture of the ACR championship game between Kansas and Fresno State.
