Argentina U18s Down Tough HSAA
The High School All Americans fell 35-13 in a creditable performance against the Argentina U18s Saturday in Rio Cuarto, Argentina.
In front of a crowd of about 600, the two teams battled very close for most of the first half. Argentina wing Agustín Fumagali and lock Bruno Gonzalez scored tries in that period, both converted by scrumhalf Patricio Baronio for a 14-13 lead at the break.
The HSAA team got two early penalties from flyhalf Ben Cima (Gonzaga HS) and then closed the gap with a try from Sacramento Islanders wing Joeli Tikoisuva.
But in the second half, Los Pumitas pulled away with three tries to win 35-13.
Still it was not a bad performance by the HSAA team, which has been beaten more convincingly by the Argentina team in previous years.
Meanwhile, Italy defeated Uruguay 27-17 in the Cuatro Naciones M18 tournament.
