Latham Appointed USA Rugby Chairman
BOULDER, Colo. – Bob Latham has been appointed chairman of USA Rugby, USA Rugby announced Tuesday.
Rob King was renewed as a member of the USA Rugby Board of Directors, while Robert Kimmit takes the position on the Board vacated by previous chairman Kevin Roberts. Former USA Eagle Pam Kosanke will serve as International Athlete replacing Beth Black. Will Chang was also appointed chairman of the Executive Committee.
Latham, who held the position prior to Kevin Roberts’ eight-year term, is one of the longest-serving members on the Board of Directors. He was also a member of the United States Olympic Committee’s Board of Directors and currently sits on the International Rugby Board Council, the IRB Executive Committee, and chairs the IRB Regulations Committee.
“It has been my pleasure to work under the leadership of Kevin Roberts during his term as Chairman of USA Rugby,” USA Rugby Chief Executive Officer Nigel Melville said. “Under his leadership we have continued to build the game of rugby at all levels across the U.S.A. I am now looking forward to working with Bob Latham to continue this work. Bob is a well-respected member of the domestic, international, and now Olympic rugby community.”
King, chief executive officer at Cytosport Inc. – makers of Muscle Milk protein powders and drinks – is currently a member of the USA Rugby, Cytosport Inc., and Island Oasis Board of Directors. He has previously served as Pepsi Bottling Group’s executive vice president and president of North America.
Kimmitt brings an extensive political background to the USA Rugby Board of Directors, having held the position of Deputy of Secretary of Treasury under President George W. Bush. He was awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal, the United States’ second-highest civilian award, for his work during the Gulf Crisis and War and sat on the Director of Central Intelligence’s National Security Advisory Panel.
Kosanke, a member of the Women’s Eagles’ 2006 and 2009 IRB Women’s Rugby World Cup teams and University of Michigan graduate, was vice president of Leo Burnett and assisted the Chicago 2016 Olympic Games bid’s communications team as a volunteer. She spearheaded USA Rugby’s Work For It campaign and brought in sponsors Crispin Cider and Rhino Rugby.
