Steinberg Renewed as WNT Coach

BOULDER, Colo. – USA Rugby announced Wednesday Pete Steinberg has agreed to continue in the role of Women’s Eagles head coach through the next Women’s Rugby World Cup cycle to 2017.

Steinberg led the Eagles to sixth place at IRB Women’s Rugby World Cup 2014 in France this past fall, earning a win against Kazakhstan with tough losses to Ireland and New Zealand.

The USA Falcons got off to a creditable start in their two-tournament development trip to South America, beating Uruguay and Canada, and losing four to finish 4th.

Day Two Mar Del Plata

The USA Falcons finished 4th at the Mar Del Plata 7s in Argentina. On Day Two they defeated Canada 33-0 but lost 19-7 to Litoral to finished 2-3 in pool play.

That set up a 3rd/4th clash with hosts Mar Del Plata. MDP had beaten the Falcons 14-12 on Day One, and won again, 14-7, on Sunday.

Mar Del Plata Day 1

The USA Falcons finished Day One at the Mar Del Plata 7s in Argentina with a 1-2 record.

The Americans lost 12-10 to Mar Del Plata in their opener, thanks to a last-second converted try by the hosts.

They then beat Uruguay 15-12, before falling to Argentina 29-12.

Next up, on Sunday, is Canada, which lost all three games on Day 1.
