Life to Face Top ACRC Team in November
Life to Face Top ACRC Team in November
The ACRC season is reportedly going to culminate in a clash between the Rugby East champion and Life University.
This looks like a setup for an unofficial championship game, possibly an official one. Rugby East is generally considered the strongest conference in the competition, and thus a game between the Rugby East winner and Life, which made the final of DIA last season, would be for the best team in fall college rugby. However, if the Rugby East winner is not considered the best of the ACRC teams, then this might just be an interesting bowl game.
Life University doesn't play a lot of undergraduate rugby in the fall. Life concentrates instead on its Elite Training Group, which mixes undergraduate and graduate players and plays difficult games in order to develop players for higher honors. However, when asked about the potential of playing the Rugby East winners November 22, Life Director of Rugby Dan Payne said "we will play anywhere, especially if it's 15s."
Payne then added, "we would love it" but stopped short of saying the game was a for-certain fixture.
There is some discussion that if another team in the ACRC emerges as especially strong, they might challenge the Rugby East winners November 15 for the right to play Life.
