The #12 toughest schedule is Army, and the #11 is Clemson.
Both tried very hard to find difficult games outside of their conference. Army played Air Force and Navy (as they try to do every year), and took a trip to Utah to play BYU and Utah. Clemson faced off with AIC in the ACRC Bowl Series, Navy, Air Force, and Life (twice).
The results didn't always go their way, but they learned a lot, which was the point.
