Southern California is heavily represented in this starting lineup. Ean Glover was a standout prop for the San Diego Mustangs, and he's not the only Mustang on the team. Powerful lock Carson Bischoff, who, if the Mustangs had won the HS National Championship club final, would probably have been the game MVP, is a massive presence in the engine room.
Max Marshall is a high work-rate flanker, while Reese Reiter is an excellent finisher at left wing.
Kingston Hawkins, who is the son of former USA 7s captain Matt Hawkins, is currently playing for Maritzburg College in South Africa, where his dad attended school. But before that, the young Hawkins was a standout for Cathedral Catholic and, yes, the Mustangs.
Hard-charging lock Duck Choy is another Mustang in the gameday 23.
Herriman HS, the 2026 Single-School national champions, have several players on this lineup. Flyhalf Asher Coleman is an outstanding playmaker, while SIone Nau, very quick but also tough in contact, is at inside center. That's an interesting choice because Nau has usually played wing or outside center, but there seems to be a plan in there.
Of the 23 players picked, 16 showed well at this year's HS National Championships, or at a previous tournament.
Among those who didn't play in that tournament, OC Lehner has led the Northern California Grizzlies to multiple Great Northwest Challenge championships and has been the central power for Bishop O'Dowd. Orlando Isturis (BC High) is an excellent field general at flyhalf or, in this case, scrumhalf. He is also a superb goalkicker.
