USA Rugby South and Mexico emerged 2-0 from Day One of the Men's U19 competition at the Rugby Americas North championships.

The competition has changed to one in which teams play two shortened games on Day One and also on Day Two, getting everyone through Pool Play and through the semifinals.

The final day of competition, July 21, will feature full-length games for all the placements.

So the key thing is to get points, which is what the Panthers did against a strong Bermuda side, kicking for points when on offer and winning 16-5.

In the second game of the day, the South beat Barbados 46-0.

Mexico has a relatively easy time of it, beating Trinidad & Tobago 24-0 and then Curucao 86-0.

Mexico plays Cayman Islands and USA South takes on Jamaica tomorrow in the final pool games.
