Syracuse Beats Binghamton
Syracuse Beats Binghamton
Two undefeated teams in Liberty Empire faced each other this weekend, but only Syracuse finished the game with that record in tack. Like last weekend, the Hammerheads started strong, with Dermot Heavey touching down a loose ball on three minutes. The two teams would battle for supremacy in the scrums and across the field until a quick tap penalty found Jean-Eric van der Elst on 27 minutes who wriggled through two defenders to score on 27 minutes. Five minutes later, a fantastic poach and Andrew Burdsall found Syracuse up 19-0.
After the break, Binghamton would start fast, scoring through forward play on the try-line on 42 minutes. Some nervy moments later, Sam Low would score down the right wing to make the score 24-7 Syracuse. Binghamton were not done however, scoring and converting tries on 56 and 74 minutes. The score was 24-21 with just 6 minutes to play. Binghamton would threaten but with no time left a Bing lineout was overthrown and found the hands of lock Noah Paxton who passed to Dillon Wall, who in turn kicked for touch and ended the game.
The Hammerheads remain top of their division with two games to go.
