St. Bonaventure Defeats Mount St. Mary's
St. Bonaventure won an all-Catholic clash this weekend with a 45-27 defeat of Mount St. Mary's.
It was a good early result for Bonnies as the Mount is strong this year.
"We're happy with the win against a good Mount St. Mary's squad," said SBU Head Coach Tui Osborne. "The match highlighted some good moments and solid performances from first-year players displaying their skills under pressure."
But there's still work to do, and Osborne said his team made a lot of errors and as a result left points on the table.
Tidying that up, he said, "will be our focus for the next couple of weeks of training leading up to our first league game on the road against Navy."
Center Keeling Coyle was player of the game for St. Bonaventure.
Next up for Mount St. Mary's is a Chesapeake Conference game against Southern Virginia. St. Bonaventure hosts Syracuse. The Rugby East Conference opens competition on September 12 with Notre Dame College at Army.
