The playoff matchups for the South Independent Rugby Conference are set as Kennesaw State got a forfeit confirmed and smacked Georgia Tech to finish 6-2 to take second in the North.

Central Florida has already clinched the South #1 and Florida State South #2. FSU played a final game this weekend against South Florida, but didn't need to win it to stay in 2nd place, and probably were able to rest some starters as they lost 26-20. Florida International, which had opened the season with a win over defending national champs UCF, completed a frustrating season with a win. FIU were hit with a forfeit in the fall and never really regain their momentum, losing critical games against South Florida and Florida State that consigned them to 3rd.

It wa the opposite in the North, where a late surge by Kennesaw State put them through, rather than any slide by Georgia Southern. KSU was on the outside looking in until March 21 when they upset league-leaders Middle Tennessee State. That vaulted KSU into the playoff conversation, and when a fixture with Memphis that was never played was resolved as a forfeit to KSU, it was essentially all over. Kennesaw State won their final game comfortably, while Georgia Southern needed to upset MTSU to get 2nd, and they didn't, falling 43-29.

So the playoffs are this coming weekend at Atlanta Old White Rugby Club's facility, with Central Florida against Kennesaw State at noon, and Middle Tennessee State against Florida State at 2pm.
