Sam Houston State won the Lonestar Conference championship over the weekend, and did so in somewhat dominant fashion.
There were one or two surprises within the playoff weekend—teams played shortened quarterfinals and semifinals before a full-length final. North Texas beat Oklahoma in the quarterfinals, which was a little bit of a. surprise. Baylor shut out Texas State to make the final.
But SHSU, going in as the favorite, played as one.
Even as rain and thunder and lightning played havoc with the schedule, moving the semis to Sunday and making the whole even extremely muddy, the Bearkats did the job.
