Northeast Boys HS 7s Roundup
Sunday RugbyPA will crowns its 7s champions with four divisions vying for titles.
The Boys HS division features 16 teams, including the 2nd side from two programs (St. Joe's and La Salle HS). The standings from the season set up the seeds, with the winningest team, Conestoga, leading the way with a 23-3-1 record. Bishop Shanahan (17-4-2) and two-time defending champs Berks (17-6) follow, with La Salle seeded 4th at 15-6-2.
Conestoga is in Pool A with La Salle II, Gregory the Great, and West Pitt. For their part, West Pitt, located far from most of the RugbyPA 7s action has in fact been playing in Ohio's series. While wins have been hard to come by, they have been playing some tough competition and won't be a walkover.
Shanahan is joined by St. Joe's, Coventry, and Lehigh Valley in Pool B. Pool C sees Berks, Knightmare, White Horse, and Elizabethtown. Pool D sees La Salle, Downingtown, St. Joe's II, and Cumberland Valley.
The Girls division is led by a very snappy Knightmare side, with Doylestown the #2 seed. Those two teams are far and away the two strongest. Knightmare has lost just once (23-1) and combined the two teams are 38-6; Downingtown is 3rd at 10-10. The rest of the field has a winning percentage under .400.
There is a girls Tier II and also a junior division also. The event will be in Lancaster, Pa., with the main field being live-streamed here>>

New Jersey
St. Augustine capped off an excellent fall with a tight 14-12 victory over Christian Brothers Academy to win the Rugby New Jersey boys state championship. The Hermits beat Don Bosco Prop 29-0, Union 43-0, and CBA 2 64-0 to make the final. In Pool 2 CBA shut out Franking 22-0 but were undone by Morris 19-10. Morris needed just a tie to win the pool but were edged by Franklin 17-12, leaving all three teams tied at 1-1. Christian Brothers had a points difference of +13 compared to that of Morris (+4), and Franklin (-17), so on to the final went CBA.
In the final it was close throughout, with St. Augustine winning by the lone conversion. Morris rolled to 3rd with a big win over Union. In the U16 bracket it was all about CBA, which ran four teams in that division. Christian Brothers 1 won the round-robin, beating St. Augutine in the key game 24-5.
