Louisville moves to 2-0 after defeating Bowling Green 26-15 Saturday.

The Mid American Conference has undergone some changes with the top four teams now playing each other home-and-away. The expectation was that these four would be close.

However, that hasn't quite happened as Cincinnati has struggled. But the Louisville vs Bowling Green fixtures will be crucial in deciding who is the #1 team, and a for-sure spot in the playoffs.

Louisville's win, following on a big win over Cincinnati, sets them up nicely in the conference.

"It's always a great rivalry," said Louisville DOR Emil Walton. "Both teams really came out guns blazing."

Louisville built an early lead and entered halftime feeling somewhat in control.

But the Cardinals' togetherness fell away a bit in the second period.

"We played a good first half but our lack of running our structures effectively in the second half bag Bowling Green a small window to fight back," said Walton.

So it's a win, but not where the Cardinals want to be.

"It's always out job to analyze every game from the viewpoint of the national final, and from that viewpoint, we still have a few more things that we need to adjust if we're going to see ourselves fighting for the title," said Walton.

Next up for Louisville is Western Michigan, who beat Cincinnati 102-0. So WMU may well be in position to trip up either Louisville or Bowling Green. After that is the Falcons-Cardinals rematch at Bowling Green.
