HS Games This Weekend

As Spring Break recedes into the past it's all-on for HS rugby teams around the country.

We've listed a chunk of those games below; among the ones of note:

South Greenville v Wando. We've got two of the best teams in South Carolina finally meeting, and since both have ben winning games by denying points to opponents, it will be a case of who can find a way through.

In Texas, Lake Travis v Jesuit of Dallas and Woodlands v Katy are important games for all four. Jesuit has a shot at a semifinal spot, but they need to win this game to keep it. Katy and Woodlands are both unbeaten, so this is the test, perhaps, to see which team is best in the South Region.

St. Edward plays St. Ignatius is a clash of the two best teams in Ohio. Both have done well outside of their state - Ignatius on a trip to Texas, and St. Edward, most recently, at the University of Kentucky. This game is always physical, usually forward-dominated, and always close. Back play may well decide this.

In Southern California, Santa Monica and Back Bay face off in the North Gold division. Both are unbeaten, both think they're the better. 

Xavier visits Gonzaga in another big meeting between highly-ranked (#4 at #1) single-school teams. Gonzaga seems to be a fairly complete team, and up front, led by Dante Lopresti, they can handle almost anything anyone throws at them. Their pace, overall, in the backline is impressive.

The Northern California playoffs start. We look at the matchups here. In Arizona, it's West Valley v Desert Vista and Red Mountain against the Blackbirds in the semis of what has been one of the most competitive Arizona leagues in quite some time. Yes Red Mountain seems to tower above the rest, but the teams 2 through 5 are quite good.
