Walsh University player-coach Stephan Herbst has left the hospital.
Herbst, who was playing for the NCR All-Star team at the Rugby League 9s at the National Rugby League tournament and event in Las Vegas in February.
Herbst, who has been a player at Walsh and was slated to take over as Head Coach while he was pursuing a graduate degree, suffered a serious head injury after a tackle during a game against a professional 9-a-side Rugby League side.
He was taken to a hospital in Las Vegas and spent about six weeks there, much of that in the ICU.
A GoFundMe page was set up to help with expenses, including getting Herbst's mother to Las Vegas from South Africa. Many donated from all over the rugby landscape, and the Cleveland Rovers rugby club reportedly raised $4,000.
