We said it was kind of a quiet weekend and so it was.
UC Davis jumps into the Top 25 with another win so there's that move. Cal moves up one more spot after a solid showing over UCLA. That's about it for movement. We do move Cal Poly slightly past UCLA and that's a tough one. For the most part we try to avoid making a switch when Team A loses by a wide margin to a very strong team and Team B wins big over a team that is not considered strong. But in this case did make that move in part because Team B in this case, Cal Poly's win over Santa Clara was impressive enough to be rewarded by a move up—Santa Clara is not a weak team and Cal Poly has been putting together good showings.
But ... Cal Poly plays Central Washington on February 17 and UCLA on March 23. UCLA, for their part, have Grand Canyon and Saint Mary's over the next two weeks. All that is to say Cal Poly and UCLA will have plenty of options for proving one or the other deserves to be ranked higher.
This coming week Arkansas State faces McKendree, Central Washington visits Arizona, Grand Canyon is at UCLA, Lindenwood is at Mary Washington ... oh, and BYU is at Cal.
That gives us #8 vs a non-ranked team that is knocking on the door, #7 vs #10, #14 vs #16, #2 vs #12, and #6 vs #3.
