Gregory the Great Wins RugbyPA
Gregory the Great won their second state championship in the last three years, defeating Berks 27-10 in Sunday's Rugby Pennsylvania final.
GGA held a very potent Berks attack in check.
Gregory Head Coach Garret van Beek said his team embraced its defensive approach and it was "a dominate display of their defensive system at every section of the field throughout the match including at the tryline."
"Our game plan was executed from start to finish getting us the points on the board," added van Beek.
It was a full-on team performance. Capping off an unbeaten season league, Gregory the Great is a team of no real stars and instead a team that plays together.
For Berks it was a hard-nosed season despite some key injuries. They made the final and battled well in overcoming some issues. Matt Cleland capped off the season with a Player of the Year award, and Berks now looks ahead to a place in the National Championships Tier II.
