A couple of more spring-centric D1A teams got in on the action this past weekend.
We caught up with them and other teams in our D1-level college rugby Gamebreakers.
Trevor Barrios, Colorado
The Buffa loosehead prop was enormously influential in his side’s defeat of Grand Canyon, making some hard yards, playing tough defense, and leading from the front.
Grant Rhulen, South Carolina
The freshman outside center played very good defense in South Carolina’s 12-10 victory over Clemson—their first in 11 years—and he also helped seal the win with a try.
Alex Aguero, Cal
Aguero tied for the lead in the West Coast 7s and was named tournament MVP.
Zach Marsh, Indiana
The IU No. 8 was an emotional and physical leader as the Hoosiers defeated Ohio State.
Luke Zana, Michigan
Zana led the Wolverines with two tries in their victory over Maryland.
Rafael OGorman, Thomas More
Named the player of the game in the Thomas More defeat of Aquinas. He scored two tries and added six conversions.
Roanin Krieger, Navy
The freshman back scored a try and was hugely effective in the kicking game as Navy beat Penn State.
Jack McLelland, Yale
The scrumhalf’s aggressive play and work in support made him player of the game in Yale’s win over Harvard.
Raphael Lansonneur, Brown
Lansonneur controlled Brown’s attack with his passing and vision, and also kicked well in Brown’s victory over Fairfield.
Derek Tucker, Nazareth
A defensive forced for Nazareth, Tucker was named player of the game as the Golden Flyers beat Northeastern.
Devon Roosna, Louisville
The Cardinals prop scored two crucial tries off pick-and-goes and was effective in tight in a tense 19-18 win over Western Michigan.
Jack Bresland, Arizona
The Wildcats No. 8 led Arizona in preseason win over Utah Valley University, scoring four tries.
Ian Dellapina, Fordham
The player of the game in Fordham’s win over Syracuse, Dellapina put in a solid defensive effort and made some key breaks to get his side going. His support running was very good and he scored a key try.
Aiden Olivier, Arkansas
The Razorbacks flyhalf put in an excellent performance in running his side’s attack as they beat Missouri 45-31.
