Gamebreakers - HS Boys This Week
Gamebreakers - HS Boys This Week
From Texas to California to Georgia to South Carolina, here are some of the Boys HS players who made an impact this past weekend:
Campbell Robinson
Robinson joined the Phoenix club in Georgia after it merged with Roswell, and he has been a dramatic addition, making open-field tackles all over the place, and logging 15 turnovers taken in two games this weekend. The flanker was named player of the game against the Titans - his third such award in this young season - and is also a terror with the ball in hand.
Josh Pane
The captain for St. Thomas of Houston, Texas scored four tries in a blowout win over Brother Martin in Louisiana.
Chuck Rowbatham
You don’t often see drop goals in open play in high school rugby in the USA, and even less so when it’s executed at a critical moment. Fullback Rowbatham did just that for St. Paul’s in a win over Niceville.
Josh Cummins
The debutant center scored two tries and was named player of the game for Wando in a rout of rivals Aiken in South Carolina.
Mathew Fa’Alele
The power-running No. 8 scored two early tries and paced Point Loma to a 36-27 win over Valhalla to win the Southern California Varsity Blue division.
Malik Montez-Hendon
With a place in the SoCal Varsity White playoffs on the line, View Park Prep flyhalf Montez-Hendon scored three tries to pace his side to a 44-0 shutout of Dana Hills.
Sean Lumkong
A massive presence running with the ball, but more so on defense, the La Costa Canyon No. 8 paced his team to a crucial win over Cathedral Catholic in Southern California’s Varsity Red division.
Blake Richards-Smith
Influential on defense, in the rucks, and lineouts, Richard-Smith helped Torrey Pines vault into the championship conversation in the SoCal’s Varsity Red with a win over Del Norte.
Josue Kauvesi
The Elsie Allen prop scored four of his team’s five tries in a win over DI North Bay.
Jake Van Order
A massive tackler and hard worker in tight, Van Order helped Granite Bay edge Pleasanton 17-14 and was named player of the game for his efforts.
Lando Hardy
The Cy-Fair inside center was good with the ball in hand, but his biggest impact was as a defender, continually making earth-shaking tackles that stymied the Memorial attack in a 45-7 league win for the Houston-area Cy-Fair HS team.
Did we forget Patrick Madden? No, he was our EIRA Player of the Week.
