Gamebreakers - HS Boys This Week
Gamebreakers - HS Boys This Week
It was an intriguing week in Boys HS rugby, and plenty of players emerged as Gamebreakers over the weekend.
Here's the list:
Christian Dyer
The Jesuit outside center was brilliant on the day in a big win over Lamorinda.
Tyreese Bell
The West Valley Misfits back out of Arizona scored four tries against Phoenix in a 34-29 win.
David Hannon
The Royal Irish flyhalf scored all of his team's points in a 15-13 loss to Gonzaga.
Mark Lewis
The Gonzaga fullback handled the Royal Irish kicking game and ensured they didn't leak a try in a 15-13 victory.
Ryan Rees
Scrumhalf Ryan Rees was hugely influential for the Chaps, scoring two tries, and kicking a conversion in a 12-7 win over rivals Lake Travis.
Aidan Estrada and Patrick Medina
The two centers for Lake Travis provided a superb defensive front against Westlake, albeit in a tough 12-7 loss.
Kyle Ostendorp
The freshman playing for Desert Vista in Arizona was brilliant at flanker during his club's win over Chandler United. Ostendorp scored a try and kicked four conversions as well as playing storng defense.
Jaret Williamson
The St. Edward back scored four tries for the Eagles in a big win over Charlotte Catholic in their preseason tour.
Luke Thayer
The Jesuit flanker (pictured kicking for goal) was brilliant with the boot and also with his overall play as Jesuit defeated Kahuku Monday. Thayer was named Forward of the Game.
Cam Miller
The Tampa Krewe No. 8 was a powerful presence the best in an excellent performance by the Krewe to beat Jupiter and stay undefeated.
Zavier Triplett
Usually a No. 8 for the Bayou Hurricanes, Triplett (pictured) shifted to center and didn't miss a beat, scoring twice as the Hurricanes beat Jesuit of New Orleans and remained undefeated in the Deep South.
Conor Shalloe
The Santa Monica flyhalf was a perfect 8-8 in goalkicking (seven conversions and a penalty) in his team's win over Santa Clarita. Shalloe also set up two very nice tries, drawing the defense and timing his pass to HS All American Quinn Perry for one, and running a dummy switch to Perry and setting up Jack Gibb out wide.
Jacob Latu
The Kahuku No. 8 was the team's MVP of their tour of Utah and Northern California, scoring four tries and also taking the team's kicks as they went 2-2 against four different defending state/regional champions.
Stephen Schultz
The Red Mountain scrumhalf is a two-year starter for the Arizona state champs and it's his decision-making and and his leadership that have made Red Mountain, once again, one of the strongest teams in the nation.
