Fort Hunt can clinch the new Mid-Atlantic Premier League with a victory this weekend over West End.

The MAPL was formed to provide some additional challenging games for some top teams in the Pennsylvania-Virginia corridor, and it has done just that. Three-time defending single-school national champs, Gonzaga, has lost twice, giving that team a bit of a wakeup in the process. Doylestown has shown early that they mean business. Even 0-2-1 Downingtown and 1-2-1 West End have been competitive.

At 0-3, West Shore United has had the roughest ride, but most observers are saying that's a bit of an anomaly - they are rebuilding and will be stronger as time goes on.

"What we wanted was to play good rugby," said Fort Hunt Head Coach Dale Roach. "And that's what the MAPL delivered. The level of competition and the intensity is making us all better."

Remaining MAPL games:

April 1, Fort Hunt v West End
April 2, Doylestown v West Shore
April 23, Doylestown v Downingtown
April 30, Doylestown v West Shore
TBC, Downingtown v West End

Gonzaga is, at present, 2nd in the MAPL, but Gonzaga has played all of their games. Doylestown can take 2nd with two wins in their remaining games. As for the clinching game, Roach said "West End is a really good team. It's going to be tough."
