The Doylestown Boys High School team put in an impressive opening result of the season, beating Virginia power Fort Hunt 62-28 on the road.

Magnanimous in defeat, Fort Hunt Head Coach Dale Roach was impressed with Doylestown.

"They are the real deal," Roach said. "They did some really good stuff in midfield and were physical in the contact area. We played well at times but generally needed better pace and line speed on defense. It was a good first contest for both teams; Doylestown was on the front foot and played well."

Doylestown controlled possession and territory, in the first half and despite Roach's reservations Forth Hunt defended well. Three tries from the Pennsylvania team put them up 17-7 at the break.

But in the second half, Doylestown's physicality and their accuracy started to open up chances.

"The halftime message was to build on the first half momentum and clean up the little details, and the tries would come," said Head Coach Kevin Reilly. "The boys executed on the message. It was a total team win."

With the score opening up Doylestown was able to see a few more players onto the field, and then the two sides backed that up with a U16 matchup, which fort Hunt won 29-19.

Nick Miletto, Louie Cipollo, Liam Hoey all bagged a pair of tries for Doylestown, with Jackson Reilly, Davis Parisi, Brandon Zubyk, and Brady Flynn also scoring tries.

Cipollo added a conversion to log 12 points overall, while Reilly converted two for nine points, and Jamie Weir converted three other tries

For his work on both sides of the ball, Miletto, playing outside center, was named player of the game and he and Cipollo made several key runs through the Fort Hunt defense. But Reilly was quick to point out the hard work done by the forwards to set the platform.

Next up for Doylestown is Xavier of New York as they look to build a non-conference resume that could get them to the national tournament.
