Down to Final Four in Keystone Conference
The Keystone Conference is down to four after higher seeds Temple, James Madison, Pitt, and St. Joseph's all won their quarterfinal games this weekend.
Pitt defeated Villanova 52-7 with tries from Noble Smith, Matt Dunleavy, Francis Checchio, Jerry Jones, Aidan Nuttall, Tom Brunt, and Chris Johnson, with Christian Quiros kicking 17 points. Pitt led 33-0 at halftime and didn't look back.
James Madison had to work for it in beating a tenacious Rutgers team 20-8, while Temple got tries from Dan Ponti, Jack Gabbons, Jeremy Ault, Anthony Sciarra, Aidan Gallagher, Paul Wisloski, and two from Oscar Hernandez to defeate MIllersville 52-8.
And on Sunday, St. Joe's handed Lock Haven a 78-17 defeat. Dan Deal scored three tries for the Hawks, while Jimmy Wolfer, Greg McTiernan, and Pat Ryan marshalled a snappy backline attack.
"We played better than we have in the last two games," said SJU Head Coach Dan Yarusso. "But there is still room for improvement."
Temple faces Pitt next week at Shippensburg University, while St. Joe's takes on James Madison.
It's been a good season for JMU, which moved up from DII to DIAA this season. Madison is now 4-1 in Keystone play, having only lost to Pitt.
The Keystone final will be played Sunday at Shippensburg.
