Davenport Holds Off BGSU
Wind made the Bowling Green v Davenport showdown a game of two halves, and in the end, Davenport held on to win the game 29-20.
With the wind Davenport ran out to a 19-3 lead, only to see Bowling Green work their way back in the second half.
Bowling Green fixed a few of their issues at the break, and tied the game with about five minutes left. But the Panthers rebounded. Hayden Gort played a very smart game at fullback as Bowling green tried to pin Davenport back, and the Panthers scored twice late to win the game.
Davenport got two tries from Dom Bailey and tries from Ben Terrell, Chase Pego, and Hans Dessaureault, while Noah Zomberg added two conversions for the Panthers on a day when the wind made kicking difficult.
“Overall we played a clinical game of rugby in the second half we started to make more mistakes then usual and we were losing the ball in contact which gave the Falcons more opportunities to bring the score closer then it should have been,” said Davenport Head Coach harry King. “The contest was a hard hitting battle of two solid programs. BGSU has been a solid program going back to a point when I was competing against them, so I knew we were in a battle.”
Among the standouts was freshman Davenport scrumhalf Ben Terrell, who stepped in for senior and regular starter Brady Gent, and played superbly. Terrell also set up Bailey for a crucial score.
