Let's take a look at top players in D1A in October.

And before we get to our own Gamebreakers, we're going to acknowledge this fall's Player of the Week awardees in D1A as presented by 8x8 Sports

Roanin Krieger, Navy (September 6)

The Navy flyhalf led his team with 23 points, and set up three other tries as the Midshipmen defeated Queens 50-14.

Ollie McMahon, Illinois (September 13)

The Illinois fullback kicked four penalty goals and three conversions for 18 points to pace the Illini to a 33-20 win over Purdue.

Cole Stoeppelwerth, Penn State (September 20)

The Penn State prop took control of the game in the front row against Ohio State, made some punishing tackles, and also scored a key try.

Drew Baublitz, Navy (September 27)

The Navy center scored two tries to add to his Navy Varsity Rugby all-time-leading total, and led the defensive effort as Navy beat Mount St. Mary’s.

Player of the Month for September: Roanin Krieger
Ian Wormer, Utah (October 4)

The Utes loose forward was massively active in a 26-10 win over Colorado, carrying 22 times for 125 meters, scoring two tries, blocking a kick, and making seven tackles.

Hayden McKay, Mount St. Mary's (October 11)

The loose forward-turned hooker scored a hat trick and put in a huge shift around the park as the Mount defeated Penn State

James Rose, Life (October 18)

Rose's two tries helped pace Life in a 55-16 win over a much-improved Ohio State.

The Gamebreakers from October

So we won't be finding any Gamebreakers for Navy because they got two weekly awards and a state award anyway, although there are several players playing very well for the Midshipmen.

Here are some of the other standouts.

Jared Ware, Colorado State

The CSU flanker scored three tries and was outstanding in other aspects of play as the Rams beat Wyoming.

Jonty Lee, Life University

In wins over Ohio State and Southern Virginia, and a close loss to Navy, Lee did very well in taking over the #10 jersey from Bradley Crane and helping direct the Life attack. He has also been very effective kicking for goal, going 14-for-17 on conversion attempts in those three games.

Jacob Thomas, Mary Washington

Coming on as a reserve in the second half vs Penn State, Thomas got involved in almost every aspect of the winning try, taking the lineout throw, helping win three straight rucks, and then picking up from the base of the final ruck to run 20 meters to score the try that made it 22-22; Jack Joyce's conversion then finished off the game 24-22 for UMW.

Kenneth Kimbraugh, Sacramento State

In preseason wins for the Hornets, Kimbraugh has led from the front with two strong performances at hooker.

Victor Mataele, BYU

In wins over Colorado State and Utah State, the Cougars’ center scored two tries in both matches.

Bastian Brunello, Mount St. Mary’s

The Mountaineers fullback has been crucial not only in his counter-attacking ability but his kicking to bump MSM up in the rankings.

George Engels, Army

The Black Knights flanker is a rangy, active forward who put in impressive shifts against Life and Mary Washington.
