We fielded a question this week ... had the Charlotte Cardinals won the Gonzaga Classic over Gonzaga would we have moved them to #1?
The answer is ... unlikely. It was a tournament and a shortened game. It's tough to ditch a team out of the #1 slot over a shortened game. Had they won might we have moved them to #2? Maybe. But #3 seems right.
Danville moves up after a close loss to De La Salle. Clayton moves up four spots thanks to a very good result or two in the Gonzaga Classic (but, of course, those were shortened games, too, so it's all a little flimsy.
As we've been discussing for a while. Fort Hunt, Aspetuck, Vienna, Berks, and Richmond are sort of intertwined with back-and-forth results (this guy beat that guy who beat someone else who beat the first guy). But this recent Gonzaga tournament showed Fort Hunt in all their best and most frustrating. They didn't lose a game, and yet only won two. Overall they did better than Vienna or Aspetuck at Gonzaga, and we reward them for that.
Are we too rough on Westside? Well, maybe. We're going to keep an eye on Penn, and if Penn's win is more of a sign tat they are significantly improved, then, yes, Westside gets to move back up.
