We took our time looking at these rankings because we had a lot of adjustments to make.
It's not really a surprise that Fort Hunt moves down. They were a Top 10 team but it was just a matter of time when some competition from outside the region might drop them down. Carmichael was the team to do it, and, similarly, we needed to see what they could do outside of their region.
Along with those two teams, Kansas City, Raptor, and Missoula all most up. While Carmichael moved up the most spots, perhaps the most dramatic move was The Woodlands. The Texas team went into the National Championships seeded #8 and ranked #12, and moved up to #6 after going 2-1 in Elkhart and finishing 5th.
That was a very good showing for them as a crucial time.
We began the season with defending champions San Diego Mustangs #1 and they held onto that position for six weeks. But they had not been playing at that point, and it was only a matter of time before someone would overtake them. Then Cavemen took #1 after going 3-0 at the Puriri Memorial.
That lasted one week because the week after Charlotte beat our #4 club, Doylestown. Doylestown was, as it turned out, quite legit, and then a week later the Cardinals beat Gonzaga and soon followed that up with a 4-0 showing at the Friendship Cup, beating Cavemen in the process.
That tournament, which we were able to see in person, convinced us that the Cardinals were the top club in the nation, with only San Diego a close second.
That's how it all shook out. This is the 14th straight week that the Charlotte Cardinals are our #1 club.
