After the rain on Saturday it cleared up on Sunday, although it was still cold. BC High responded with a good performance and a 48-19 win over Fairfield.
"We played wonderful rugby, attacking with precision and defending as a unit," said Head Coach Pau Carty. Flyhalf Gavin McNicholl orchestrated the attack well, using forwards to win momentum and quick ball and then unleashing an experienced backline. McNicholl also ran on his own and usually found meters when he did.
All of that got them close and then BC High's short-yardage work proved key—prop Mike Smith ended up scoring five tries.
"But it was a true team effort," added Carty Fullback Charlie Thomison and flanker Carlos Henriquez also touched down and McNicholl was effective with kicks from the tee.
"We are extremely grateful to the administration, coaches, and parents at Fairfield Prep," added Carty. "They run a top-notch tournament."
