ASU, Lindenwood Tie - Mid-South Latest
The Mid-South may well be all LIfe's now as the Running Eagles are 3-0, and Arkansas State and Lindenwood tied on Sunday.
Lindenwood just came from winning the Men's College 7s at the Las Vegas Invitational, and while Head Coach Josh Macy rested some players and left them home to prepare for Sunday's 15s game, he also brought his 7s players back quickly to help out.
ASU started with a try from forward Tabo Maree to give the Red Wolves a 5-0 lead. Lindenwood replied to tie it at halftime. Tanner Pope logged two tries for ASU in the second half, but each time Lindenwood would answer and the game ended 17-17.
Meanwhile, as reported on Goff Rugby Report, Life Held Off Davenport in a competitive game. Life Head Coach Colton Cariaga said the game tested his team's ability to play on the transition.
Their kicking game was good, and "while we did make a few errors, our decision-making and execution on counter-attack was generally spot-on," said Cariaga. "On attack we were able to build continuity and up the phase count as the game matured."
Life's bench gave them a boost and, as they have shown all season so far, Life's defense held strong.
Meanwhile, for Davenport real questions have to be asked as to whether the Mid-South is where they should be playing. The Panthers looked good in the fall, and the weather in the Grand Rapids, Mich. area lends itself to playing in the fall. Davenport cannot really get outside to train in the winter, and then has to start their toughest part of the season on the road. In fact, they will play at Clemson, Life, Lindenwood and then Arkansas State before hosting their first conference game on April 1.
