Aspetuck Wraps 1st Girls Season on a High
The Aspetuck Valley girls program went 2-1 this past weekend in the Mid-Atlantic Women's Rugby Showcase in New Jersey,
It's been a good showing from Aspetuck in its first-ever season, with this weekend seeing them win against Play Rugby and Doylestown in impressive fashion. They also lost to Morris 26-12. All this with a team that had no seniors, and less than a third of the squad being juniors and sophomores. More than two-thirds of the team were freshmen.
Jennie Weiner, Ashley Torres-Brown, and Avery Laird led the scoring in a 26-12 loss to Morris, and then Jayden Smith scored two in a 38-10 victory over Pennsylvania champs Doylestown. Reese Smith, Ella Venables, Andria Hamilton, and Jocelyn Riley also scored.
Against Play Rugby Torres-Brown scored three tries while Riley added another.
