Airzona State University's men's rugby program has named the 40 players coming in as their freshman class.

The list includes HS All American Chase Bixby out of Granite Bay, Calif., along with Arizona natives Christopher Bey, who is back from LDS mission, and Ben Shockley.  The list of 40 + players includes several high profile players

In the forwards, High School All American and Stars and Stripes player, Chase Bixby (Granite Bay, CA) looks to move into the pack. He will be joined by Christopher Bey ,(Litchfield Park, AZ) who has just finished a 2 year mission and Ben Shockley  an aspiring #8 (Corona Del Sol, AZ). Up front the Sun Devils have added Seth Trujillo (San Diego, Calif.) and Ben and Jacob Grant (Ruckersville, Va.) . Other notable additions are Dylan Novak (Burlington, Vt.), Sterling Hulsebus (Granite Bay), Steven McCormack (Pembroke, Mass.) and Robert De Guzman (Jefferson, Calif.). 

In the backline, scrumhalf Nathan Short is a HS All American out of Bixon, Calif. He is joined by Harry Wilson (Brisbane, Austalia) Conner Howell (Millfield, UK), and Chris Baydaline out of Jesuit HS in Sacramento, Calif. Tempe, Ariz. native Ethan Bank joins his brother Aaron as a Sun Devil.

Several other talented backs include center Ryan Jones (International School, Bankock, Thailand), Liam Lowry (Tuakau College, New Zealand), and Patrick Hogan (Dublin, Ireland).

“This is a deep and well-thought-out recruiting class,” said ASU Head Coach Gary Lane. “We are very excited to see these young players integrate into the program.”

Last year's Arizona State team notched victories over UCLA and Arizona, finished 3rd in the PAC Conference, and finished 6th in the USA Rugby College 7s Championships with a squad very heavy in sophomores. This big and talented freshman class will add much to a team that has a strong core for the next couple of years.
