American International College improved to 4-0 with an impressive road shutout win over NIRA Tier II rivals Bowdoin College Friday.

The YellowJackets took the win 43-0, moving to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in-conference, while Bowdoin dropped to a conference record of 3-1.

Still, chances are that these two will meet again in the NIRA Tier II final on November 22.

"It means we've proven how strong and resilient we are together," team captain Annekkia Ritter-Truxal said after the game. "We truly are a family, always. I love this team."

An early try by Shiela Sarmiento, converted by Camryn Henderson made the conversion to give AIC a 7-0 lead.

The teams held each other at a standstill for about a quarter of an hour after that, but it was AIC that broke through again, with Venise Sanft racing down the sideline, cutting back inside, and offloaded to Kiyanah Edwards for the try.

Edwards added a second as halftime approached to make it 17-0, and AIC kept the shutout going with a solid goalline stand that ended the half.

Edwards continued her torrid try-scoring pace, speeding in for two tries in the first 10 minutes of the half. Henderson converted to make it 31-0 and pit the YellowJackets firmly in control.

They capped it off with two more tries in the final 30 minutes, with Haley Thompson powering through and Edwards getting her 5th. Henderson's fourth conversion of the evening finished it off 43-0.

It was a very impressive showing for AIC as they secure top spot in the combined DII/DIII Tier II. Bowdoin is the likely 2nd team and both wait to find out who they play in the semis. The two most likely other semifinalists, West Chester and Frostburg State, play each other on Saturday, but who plays whom is the question.
