We have five major moves to discuss in the Boys HS Club Rankings.

1. Red Mountain lost to two teams in the Pacific Cup, but did win a game, also. In the end, we could have bumped Santa Monica up based on their win over Red Mountain, but then we'd have to move Los Angeles up, too. And then who do we drop down below them? Maybe Doylestown. Maybe Liberty ... but the list is small. So, as a result of Santa Monica beating Red Mountain, we move Santa Monica up a bit, amd LA up also because they beat Santa Monica, and then Red Mountain right behind them both.

2. United, based on winning the Utah state title, moves up five places to #4.

3. Back Bay, despite a big loss to Kahuku, gets a bit of a mulligan. They didn't have most of their top players against Kahuku, and the reason wasn't injury, but school.

4. Orem played really well at playoff time and almost beat United. They come in at #15 and West Valley, a team they beat, slides down a bit.

5. Budd Bay returns to the Top 50 after beating Kent. We suspect both Kent and Budd Bay would do very well in many other leagues.

One final word on Danville. Despite being undefeated, they are not secure as the #1 team. The Royal Irish or United could bypass them. We think it will be tough - Royal Irish will have to win Nationals emphatically - but they can do it. Granite Bay lost to Danville in the NorCal final, so we can't see them winning nationals and getting #1. United had some early losses, but sometimes you have to recognize growth within a team. Their three losses were by a total of eight points. Only one of those losses (at Snow Canyon) was less than a month ago.

Other teams that could surge to #1 would be Orlando or West Shore. They don't have major blemishes on their records, and we're ranking them mostly based on local results. But if Orlando wins nationals it means they will have beaten United, Granite Bay (probably), and Royal Irish (probably). If they do that, it would be hard to keep them out of the #1 spot.

No pressure.
