The New England Rugby Football Union (NERFU) oversees collegiate and club rugby across the New England region, providing governance, scheduling, and championship pathways for teams including those in Women’s Division III. In the Women’s D3 tier, teams compete within NERFU’s structure and may qualify for the wider Atlantic Super-Regional playoffs, which serve as a gateway to national competition.

New England College to Move to DI

The National Small College Rugby Orgnaization has announced that New England College’s Director of Rugby Jeremy Treece plans to take his team to DI next fall.

Since it began competing in the NSCRO playoff system in the fall of 2012, NEC has found great success, winning the 2014 7s national championship and finishing 2nd in 15s last spring.

NSCRO Latest - NEC to Nat Semis

New England College dominated their regional playoffs in the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) with a 72-5 defeat of the University of Rochester, and a 38-12 defeat of Eastern Connecticut State.

That put NEC in the national semifinals, joining Central region winners St. John’s. Two more spots remain to be claimed for the April 25-26 finals.
