Aggies Move to SWC
Texas A&M University has replaced Texas Christian in the ACRC's SouthWest Conference schedule.
A&M Director of Rugby Craig Coates said the Aggies are always looking for games and as their squad grows ever larger, the SWC seemed a good fit. Lonestar Conference teams have such a busy schedule they don't have time for other games, which A&M was hoping would be the case. The Aggies are also expected to play in the Red River Conference with Oklahoma, Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas, and possibly TCU. They are also slated to play non-conference games against Arkansas State, LSU, and Rice.
Coates said the team is welcoming a big freshman class of recruits.
"Part of that is because of the popularity of Johnny Manziel and A&M football - more people have heard of the school and the school has been increasing its freshman class, so we're getting more candidates. Six players from Texas state champs Wastlake will be entering A&M this fall.
