The Lindenwood Men’s Rugby team has announced an opening for a full-time assistant coach position, beginning on either August 2 or August 16 of this year.

Lindenwood is seeking a confident and experienced coach, with additional expertise in administration, operations, or analysis being highly desirable.

Position Summary:

Job Title: Assistant Coach, SLS Men's Rugby (10 Month)
Department: Athletics
Evaluation Group: Coach
Reports To: Head Coach, Men's Rugby

The assistant coach will support the head coach in all activities of the rugby program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, recruiting and retaining student-athletes, monitoring their academic progress, striving for competitive success, managing the budget, and ensuring compliance with university and governing body guidelines.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators:

Student-Athlete Academic Success:

Prioritize and support student-athlete academic achievement.

Assist in managing all aspects of the student life sports program, including monitoring academic success, retention, and graduation progress.

Collaborate with academic staff to implement necessary action plans.

Adhere to academic policies and work effectively with the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) and Academic Support Services.

Competitive Success of Sport:

Recruit and evaluate student-athletes for success at Lindenwood University.

Teach and impart essential skills and knowledge of the sport.

Develop a high-performing team that meets competitive expectations.

Maintain professional and sportsman-like conduct.

Administration:

Stay informed and comply with Lindenwood University, Intercollegiate Athletics, and governing body regulations.

Manage program administrative responsibilities efficiently.

Support the head coach in operating a fiscally responsible program and lead fundraising activities.

Maintain a detailed inventory of team equipment, uniforms, and supplies.

Communication, Collaboration, and Q2 Service Excellence:

Support the university’s mission and the Q2 culture of service excellence.

Model and uphold the university’s values: integrity, dedication, excellence, creativity, and teamwork.

Promote and take pride in the Athletics department.

Anticipate and respond promptly to the needs of students, colleagues, and administrators.

Community Relations and Engagement:

Establish and maintain effective community relationships.

Engage in campus and community outreach projects and events.

Maintain alumni relationships and keep them engaged with the university.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Playing and coaching experience preferred.

Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.

Excellent analytical and organizational skills.

Proficiency in computer skills.

Physical Demands:

Ability to perform and teach technical aspects of rugby.

Regular attendance is essential.
