The women's DII college fall playoffs are drawing closer, and many conferences are just a weekend away from naming their representatives to the Round of 32. Only a handful of teams (bolded) are certain that they’ll be playing on Nov. 14, while a good portion know they’re advancing but must still play for place. Click here for the DII brackets.

CONFERENCE (# of seeds to Round of 32): ...

ALLEGHENY (1): This is a new hybrid conference that has three DII teams competing. The playoff representative will be determined after this weekend’s Slippery Rock vs. IUP match, but conference treasurer Angela Smarto indicated she will be encouraging the runner-up to apply for an at-large bid.

GREAT LAKES (2): Davenport is the repeat conference champion, and #2 Ferris State only loss came to the Panthers.

GREAT WATERS (3): The North and South standings leaders will play for the top seed on Nov. 7, and UW Steven’s Point is guaranteed a berth to that title bout. The reigning conference champ will face the victor of this weekend’s UW Whitewater vs. Univ. Illinois-Chicago, a game that will decide the winner of the South pool. The conference 3^rd place match will be contested between the loser of the aforementioned game and one of three North teams: UW Oshkosh, UW La Crosse, or UW Platteville. All three are 3-2 at present. The only question lies in Platteville, which is an NSCRO team, but which conference commissioner Gray Zischke indicated can play through the DII post-season (but will head to the NSCRO national playoffs).

ILLINOIS (1): Another hybrid league, this one combining DI/DII teams. The conference final is this weekend and will occur between Illinois State and Southern Illinois.

OHIO VALLEY (2): Semifinals are this weekend between Eastern Kentucky vs. Kentucky, and Miami vs. Cincinnati. Victors are guaranteed spots in the Midwest regional and will play for place on Nov. 7.

MID-ATLANTIC (3): The conference semifinals have been set: Kutztown vs. East Stroudsburg, and Bloomsburg vs. Delaware. The final four will occur Nov. 7-8.

NEW ENGLAND SMALL COLLEGE (2): The conference championship will be held Nov. 7 at Bowdoin. The host is heavily favored to repeat as champion and the real race will be for runner-up.

NEW ENGLAND WIDE (2): Coast Guard is heading to the Round of 32 and, with a win against Springfield (1-5) Saturday, will take the spot out of the conference. League play extends until Nov. 7, and the conference will need that time to shake out #2, as Smith (4-2), UVM (3-2-1), New Hampshire (3-2), and Hartford (3-1) are all within striking distance of each other.

NORTHERN LIGHTS (2): There is still a week of league play remaining, but Winona and Mankato State should advance to the conference semifinals to face North Dakota and North Dakota State, the top two teams in the DII/NSCRO hybrid league. Champion will be determined Nov. 8.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN (2): The conference semifinals will occur at Colorado Mesa this weekend, and pair the host vs. Utah State, and Colorado College vs. Montana State in the semifinal round.

RUGBY NORTHEAST (2): No one has clinched a berth yet, but Stonehill and St. Michael’s are both 6-0. Providence is 5-1, as is NSCRO Franklin Pierce. League play extends until Nov. 7 and the league leaders face off this weekend.

TRI-STATE (3): The conference semifinals have been set: Vassar vs. Marist, Rutgers vs. Albany. Winners are guaranteed a playoff berth, and place will be decided on Nov. 7.

UPSTATE NEW YORK (2): The conference champion will be named this weekend and will come down to the victors of Geneseo vs. Buffalo State, and Ithaca College vs. Buffalo.

AT-LARGE (5): There are a few holes to fill in the brackets. There is at least one at-large bid at each regional, and the Rockies region has two.
