Coast Guard Wins Again
Coast Guard Wins Again
The Coast Guard Academy moved to 4-0 in the New England CRC men's DII college conference with a 27-15 defeat of Norwich.
Noriwhc beat Coast Guard twice last year, so this game had a taste of revenge to it. Neither team was able to score in the first 20 minutes, but then Coast Guard scored three tries through Stephen Palmieri, Nick Dunbar, and Andrew Moeller to take a 15-0 lead at halftime. Windy conditions contributed to failed conversion attempts.
Nine minutes into the second half Moeller scored another try, but Norwich quickly answered with their first points shortly after. Norwich might have hoped for a bit of a momentum shift then, but they then had to deal with a yellow card, and it was Coast Guard that scored next to lead 27-5.
A man down, Norwich reorganized their backs and ran in two tries. Coast Guard threatened to score in the final minutes but Norwich held them out.
CGA battles Rhode Island next Saturday in a game that has significant conference championship implications.
