Latest Scores from the Pacific Cup (NOTE - Day Two action was moved to the University of San Diego after the Little Q was flooded)
9:00am Danville (MS#1) 41-7 Fallbrook (SS#6)
Led by another solid game from scrumhalf Keanu Andrade, who punished Fallbrook's kicking game with some ifty counter-attacks, and with hooker Ben Hoffman stealing several put-ins against the head in the scrums, Danville dominated field position and ball possession. Fallbrook fullback Trevor Rainwater scored a try and converted it for his team's only points.
10:25am Red Mountain (MS#5) 19-34 Santa Monica (MS#15)
We're trying to confirm the score, but Santa Monica held off a tenacious Red Mountain team. Santa Monica could have actually controlled the game a little better than they did, and they left it open for Red Mountain to stay close. But ultimately, a little better cohesion and some dynamic plays in the backs saw the Dolphins through.
11:50am Bay Barbarians 12-17 Mustangs
In a very unstructured game the Barbarians, made up of a few players from the San Francisco Bay Area, looked to come through on athleticism. And they led 12-7, but a penalty kick made it 12-10, and then Ryan Cavanaugh's winding, rambling run won the game for the Mustangs.
1:15pm Kahuku (SS#9) 53-0 Back Bay (MS#4)
Most of Back Bay's starting backline and a couple of other high-profile players were unable to get time off school to play in this game, but regardless, this was a massive result for Kahuku as they dominated Back Bay physically. Flyhalf William Fonokalafi was snappy and ran the Kahuku attack well, while up front 300-lb prop Roman Salanoa was a force.
