Norwich Handles Vermont in Top Rankings Clash
Norwich University, ranked #4 by GRR, put in an impressive performance in beating GRR #5 University of Vermont 42-6 Saturday.
Norwich improved to 3-0 in the New England-Wide Collegiate Rugby Conference. Vermont took an early 6-0 lead with two Keegan Bliss penalty goals but that was it for them in terms of scoring, at the Cadets reeled off 42 unanswered points. It took Norwich until about 24 minutes into the game to actually take the lead, but took a 15-6 lead into the break and built from there.
Center Ben Steen scored two tries while captain flanker Leo Clayburgh, flanker Jack Tellifson, wing Brandon Hussey, center Yandres Cintron, and back Anthony Kowalski all touched down once.
It was a clinical performance from Norwich, and with #1 Furman idle, Marian big winners and Adrian getting a forfeit win, it is going to be a big battle for #1 in the rankings. Marquette, ranked #6 going into this weekend, also won in impressive fashion.
