New Approach, High Standards Lead DCC to Michigan State Title
Detroit Catholic Central won the Michigan boys HS championship over the weekend, beating West Ottawa in emphatic fashion 66-17 in the final.

Five State Champs to be Decided
More state finals are on the slate for this weekend.
Xaverian Brothers got by Belmont HS 38-17 to book their spot in the Massachusetts IAA D1 final. These two teams had met back in early April, a game that ended in a 17-17 tie. In the semifinal Luke Bell scored two tries while Christopher Dalton, William Benting, Joseph Karbelis, and Ben Kramer all touched down as well.
Grandville Girls Win Michigan
Grandville HS girls ended this fall with a state championship as they avenged last year's championship game loss to Sparta-Rock with a 22-10 win for the Bulldogs.
With seniors Gina Pollice and Hanna Sarber scoring tries, and junior Hannah Koorndyk adding one of her own, Grandville held off an early onslaught from Sparta-Rock.
Howell Wins Michigan In Dramatic Fashion
Howell defeated Rockford in dramatic fashion to win the Rugby Michigan Boys HS championship this past weekend.
The playoffs produced plenty of drama throughout.
Rockford themselves had to work very hard to get to the final … even the semifinal. The quarterfinals included a tight 19-17 defeat of Detroit Central Catholic.
Grandville Girls Win Michigan
