GRR: Rugby Texas
Lake Travis meets up with Jesuit-Dallas Friday night in a marquee clash for Rugby Texas this weekend.
The Rugby Texas girls HS season is at its halfway point, and Plano has rocketed to the lead.
The teams play 7s to make sure that all teams can make the numbers, and play a series of small tournaments. Plano swept the field on Saturday in Austin, getting pushed by Kingwood but beating Alamo Heights, Woodlands, and Pharr with convincing scores.
St. Pius X has made a bit of statement in Rugby Texas with two big wins in as many weeks.
After beating Kingwood 60-0 a week ago, St. Pius shut out a solid St. Thomas team 10-0. In a tense, defensive-minded, and not always perfect game, Pius put the pressure on St. Thomas for much of the game and got two scores - which was enough.
Well over 70 boys HS rugby games are on tap for this weekend - check back for scores as we update.
Having both beaten the Rugby Texas defending champion, The Woodlands and the Katy Barbarians met this weekend.
In a tight game that could have gone either way, The Woodlands emerged 30-26 victors.
