GRR: Herriman
The West Valley Warriors and Herriman HS both won state championships Saturday in Utah.
The Warriors took the HS club final 45-12 over Kay Toa to finish their season 12-0, including two wins over Kau Toa and a win over well-regarded United.
In a matchup between two single-school heavyweights in Utah’s single school semifinals, Herriman remained undefeated in what has been a carbon copy in nearly every game this season – jumping out to a huge lead, and conceding tries after the subs ran on.
Herriman defeated United 43-12 this past weekend in Utah Youth Rugby action on Senior Night.
The evening started with 13 Herriman seniors escorted onto the field by their parents through a tunnel of their teammates. It was a warm start to a chilly evening.
Herriman met in-state foe Olympus on Friday night for a key battle that would determine first place in Utah's Single-School Central Conference.
On a cold, snowy night in Herriman, the hosts overcame an early deficit to come out with an emphatic win over a talented Lions Academy squad.
