DIAA College Rugby News
While the organization of collegiate rugby is up in the air, there are other changes afoot.
The Chesapeake Conference has made a few changes for the 2020-2021.
The conference has expanded to nine teams, which is the number the conference had when it started in 2016. The Chesapeake dropped down to seven teams in the fall of 2019 after Mary Washington moved up to D1A and Virginia moved to the Cardinals Conference in D2.
The Southeast Collegiate Rugby Conference has added two teams to its DIAA league.
College rugby right now seems to be a little like a group of lifeboats circling a foundering ship—you wonder who's going to pick up whom, who will strike on for shore on their own, and will that foundering ship actually get back afloat?
Sources close to the league say that Major League Rugby will be announcing tonight that it will be instituting a collegiate draft for next season.
